Bilateral Macular Hemorrhage Due to Welding Arc: A Case Report

نویسنده

چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: Non-ionized radiation from arc welding may cause retinal lesions such as photo retinitis. In this report, a patient with bilateral macular bleeding which had been caused by inappropriate use of protective safety glasses is introduced. Case Report: On 26 July 2008 a 23-year-old male with blurred vision was referred to Shahid Beheshti's faculty of Rehabilitation Clinic. He reported that the previous week he had done welding arc for about 7 hours, without using appropriate safety glasses. At the time of admission, his visual acuity was 2/10 ocular uterque (OU) in near and distance .Indirect ophthalmoscopy showed bilateral macular hemorrhage. Conclusion: Non-ionizing radiation, which is emited in large amounts during welding arc, may cause   photokrataties and cataract, and are due to Ultra Violet (UV) radiation. Visible (VL) and Infrared (IR) radiation resulting from welding arcs rarely cause maculaphathy. In sever cases; this injury leaves permanent damage and is not treatable. Use of appropriate safety glasses can prevent these injuries. Key words: UV radiation; IR radiation; Photo retinitis; Eye protective; welding, Bilateral macular hemorrhage

Multifocal electroretinogram and Optical Coherence tomography spectral-domain in arc welding macular injury: a case report

BACKGROUND the purpose of this study was to report a binocular photic retinal injury induced by plasma arc welding and the follow-up after treatment with vitamin supplements for a month. In our study, we used different diagnostic tools such as fluorescein angiography (FA), optical coherence tomography (OCT) and multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG). CASE PRESENTATION in the first visit after f...

Pure sensory stroke due to bilateral basal ganglion hemorrhage: a case report.

Bilateral simultaneous hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhages are extremely rare. The predisposing factors and pathophysiological mechanisms leading to the development of this picture are not well known. Possible mechanisms of simultaneous multiple hemorrhages include concomitant primary hemorrhages in two or more regions, or development of a second hemorrhage in another region shortly after th...

Bilateral adrenal hemorrhage due to heparin-induced thrombocytopenia following partial nephrectomy – a case report

Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) can cause severe life-threatening events such as bilateral adrenal hemorrhage (BAH). A 48-year-old female developed a pulmonary embolus (PE) following partial nephrectomy. The anticoagulation treatment for her PE was complicated by HIT and subsequent BAH. To the author's knowledge, this is the first reported case of HIT-associated BAH following renal surgery.

CASE PRESENTATION We describe the case of a 14-year-old Caucasian boy who presented with a toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis and was treated with sulfadiazine and pyrimethamine. Three months later, he presented ...

There are several reports of SSNHL in patients with CRF, uraemic patient, hemodialysi...
